THERAPEUTICK LIGHT THERAPY
Therapeutic light therapy, also known as PBM, is one of the fastest-growing wellness treatments worldwide. Both private users and professionals are embracing it for its ability to deliver visible results quickly – and without side effects. But is it just a trend, or is it backed by science?
Photobiomodulation – Evidence-Based Therapy
It started in Denmark
In 1903, Niels Ryberg Finsen won the Nobel Prize for his discovery of therapeutic light – the foundation of today’s evidence-based PBM
Ruby Laser
In 1960, the first Ruby Laser was developed – a breakthrough that opened the door to modern medical and therapeutic laser applications
Nasa
NASA has extensively studied PBM to support wound healing and recovery in astronauts – paving the way for advanced light therapy here on Earth
Science
Photobiomodulation (red/near-infrared light) is absorbed by mitochondrial cytochrome-c oxidase, restoring electron flow and boosting ATP. That reduces inflammation, and accelerates tissue repair and pain relief
Whats happens in the body?
Think of red/near-infrared light as a gentle “boost” for your cells. Your mitochondria—the tiny power plants—soak up the light and make more energy, which helps tight or sore areas work and recover better. At the same time, the light calms inflammation, improves blood flow, and nudges your body’s own repair systems.
Common feedback is relaxed muscles, reduced tenderness, and quicker, more consistent recovery and better sleep.
